If you’re a teen girl worried how you’ll pay for a prom dress, The Valley de Oro chapter of Soroptimist International would like to help you through a program known as “Operation Fairy Godmother.”Since 1999, the all-women service group has collected gently used dresses and given them away to girls who need them. Giveaway day is Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m in the Rehab Conference Center at Alvarado Hospital. The “fairy godmothers” promise to have hundreds of dresses, in all sizes, colors and styles. They also will have shoes, jewelry, purses and shawls. Any young girl is welcome to “shop” at the giveaway. You need to bring your school ID.
