Lincoln High School 2009 API Announcement
By Ray Adair • Sep 18th, 2009 • Category: NewsLincoln High School is pleased to announce that, with the September 15 release of STAR (Standardized Testing and Reporting) 2009 results by the California Department of Education, Lincoln met and exceeded its API (Academic Performance Index) growth targets for the 2008-09 school year. Lincoln needed to improve 13 points in order to meet its annual growth targets in test scores; Lincoln’s actual growth during the 2008-09 schools year was 47 points.
African-American, Latino, and socio-economically disadvantaged students led the school with improved scores of at least 6% above projections. Furthermore, all numerically significant groups within the school met or exceeded their API targets, including English language learners and students with disabilities. These test results indicate that the Lincoln community is fulfilling its promise to provide relevant classroom instruction, robust challenges with support, and open access for all students to a rigorous college-prep curriculum.
All members of the Lincoln community ought to take a moment to pause, reflect, and congratulate one another on this noteworthy achievement, while recognizing the challenges that lay ahead are considerable. Through our students’ efforts, the bar for achievement has been raised yet again. Lincoln will continue to articulate its core values of excellence, equity, and engagement in order to meet these challenges in the coming school year.
