AESA
Come to the first AESA (Asian Empowered Student Alliance) meeting of the year! This Wednesday, October 14 in room 568 at 2:45.
Club Rush Day
Next week is Club Rush Day. Advisors – you will receive an email today, please make sure to print out and return to Mr. Camacho’s mailbox in the central office.
Hurley Fashion Models
We have an important meeting tomorrow, Wed. during lunch in room 146 to discuss a possible fashion show next month.
Employment Opportunity
The County of San Diego is offering high school students an employment opportunity as a Student Worker. The rate of pay = $11.67. Students interested should go to the Career Center (room107) for more information. FYI – one Lincoln High student has applied for a position and will be working for the Sheriff’s Dept.
Circle of Friends
We’d like to invite all students who are interested in the Circle of Friends program to come by Room 447 today during lunch for an information meeting. Our goal is to promote friendships and to help students with disabilities increase their social skills. We have weekly lunches and special activities, and you will earn community service hours. You will also gain leadership and public speaking skills. Please come directly to Room 447 at the beginning of lunch, as your school lunch will be waiting there for you. Hope to see you!
San Diego NAACP Invites You
Join us in a community forum this Wednesday at 6pm at Lincoln High School’s Center for Social Justice to demand SDSU continue serving local students!
Lincoln Hat Policy
Students please be aware that Lincoln High School has a NO HAT policy. Students caught wearing a hat by a staff member may be asked to give up the hat. If the student is unwilling to give up the hat, they are subject to discipline and possible suspension.
Class Rings
Jostens will be out in the center quad on Thursday, Oct. 22nd during lunch in the center quad to take orders for rings. If you put a down payment or purchase a ring in full, you will receive a free cap and gown if you are a senior. If you need a ring order form, come to room 146 (ASB) during lunch.
Senior Group Photo:
The Senior Group Photo is taking place tomorrow Wed. – Oct. 14th during the 3 hour advisory. Seniors are to report to their Advisory class and will walk down together at 10:45 a.m.
Community Service:
Attention students … On Saturday, October 17, Market Creek Plaza will host its fourth annual Arts & Culture Fest. The Jacob Center is seeking volunteers to help with all aspects of the event. See Mr Loessel in the Career Center to get a copy of the Volunteer Registration Form.
CAL – SOAP Reps
Two representatives, Ngozi Okeh & Rosanne Edu, from the California Student Opportunity and Access Program (CAL-SOAP) are now on campus Mon – Fri from 8:am – 1:pm. Ngozi, a sophomore at UCSD, is available Mon and Fri. Rosanne, a senior at SDSU, is available Tues and Thurs. Both representatives will be located in the Career Center (rm 107). They are here to assist students with financial aid, scholarships, college options and college applications.

Future Lincoln doctors and nurses in the house! Find out what it takes to prepare for MEDICAL SCHOOL or other HEALTH RELATED FIELDS by current medical students. These are students who have gone through the process already and are doing what it takes to be a doctor. Medical schools represented include: UCSF, UC San Diego, University of Washington, USC, UC Davis, UCLA, Stanford, and more. It takes place at UCSD on Saturday, October 17, from 4:30p – 6:30p. Over 100 PRIVATE/INDEPENDENT and PUBLIC colleges will be represented at this year’s Cal SOAP College Fair, in addition to specific workshops such as: “the secrets of selective colleges”, “the College Athlete”, and “California community colleges and the transfer process”. We will have two busses departing Lincoln High School to attend this event, and we want you and your parent/guardian to ride the bus with us! Come and find the college that best fits YOU! Paper Recycling
Staff and Students: Please make sure that you are recycling all paper products. There should be a paper recycling box in each classroom and common areas. Save the Earth!
SCHOLARSHIPS
Copies of the Better Business Bureau and Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarships are available in the Career Center (rm 107). Both scholarships are due in October. You must have a 3.0 G.P.A. to apply for the Coca-Cola Scholarship.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
All seniors must complete a minimum of 30 hours of community service. All 9th – 11th grade students are encouraged to participate in community service during the school year. Don’t wait until your senior year. See Mr Loessel, in the Career Center, if you have questions.
ACT & SAT Testing
All seniors are reminded to sign up for the next ACT and SAT tests especially if you plan to apply to a UC or CalState University. Fee waivers are availble through your Center’s Counselor. See Mr Loessel if you have questions.
College Tour
The Parent Center at Lincoln High School and UCSD are organizing a college tour to UC Santa Barbara on October 23, 2009. If your parent and you are interested in participating please stop by the 100 office and pick up an application.

Senior Pictures
Any Seniors who have not taken their senior pictures has one last chance! Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch will be on our campus the week of Sept. 14th through the 25th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in room 601. The back door is the entrance. You must call them at 858-693-6403 to schedule your appointment! If they can not fit you in, then you will have to go to the studio to take your portrait. October 15th is your last opportunity to be in the yearbook! If you have any questions, see Mr. Camacho in the A.S.B. room during lunch.

Pre-order your yearbook today in the financial office during lunch or after school. The price goes up to $75 until December 18th! Only a limited number of yearbooks will be ordered, so make sure to purchase yours today!
