C/O 2012
C/O 2012 will have a lunch meeting on November 5 to begin the race for the position of VP and to discuss other plans and concerns. Please meet in room 346 next Thursday, November 5 during lunch. Come ready to share your ideas and build the momentum for the C/O 2012. Student lunches will be available in the classroom.
Girls Basketball Tryouts
They will take place on Saturday, November 14th, from 2:45-5:15 pm in the New Gym.
All female student-athletes interested in trying out for the basketball team must receive clearance from the central office prior to tryouts. No one will be admitted without proper clearance. No exceptions!!! If you need a physical, please go to the central office for a form.
Homecoming Court
We are having a meeting today – Tuesday Oct. 27th – during advisory in room 146. The meeting starts at 10:25 exactly so please do not be late.
Spirit Bus
A.S.B. is hosting a Spirit Bus for the Patrick Henry Football Game on November 6th. The cost is $5.00 and does NOT include your admission into the game. You must pick up a permission slip in the A.S.B. room or central office. Seats are on a first come, first serve basis. You must turn in your permission slip and money to room 146 (A.S.B) in order to reserve your seat. If you have any questions, see Mr. Camacho in the A.S.B. room at lunch.
Boys Basketball
Students, Winter sports are coming up and that means Hornet Basketball is back in full effect! Are you interested in playing boys basketball? If so, tryouts begin Nov. 14th so get ready! We will be meeting in room 347 Wednesday October 28th during lunch. Those interested should attend, see you there!
Free Screening of 9500 Liberty
The San Diego Asian Film Festival is presenting the screening of 9500 Liberty tonight, Tuesday, Oct 27th at the Jacobs Center located at 404 Euclid Ave San Diego, CA 92114.
From 5:00-6:30 p.m. there will be a reception, with the film beginning at 6:30 p.m. At
7:45 p.m. there will be questions and answers with filmmakers.
Writing for Literacy Essay Contest
Are you or know a 10th grade student interested in competing for a $500 top prize (other winners will also receive money) for writing a one thousand word essay? The 2010 Student Writing for Literacy Essay Contest deadline is 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009. See the library for details.
Cal SOAP College Fair TOMORROW at the Scottish Rite Center | 6p – 8:30p
Don’t pass up on an opportunity to talk to representatives from more than 100 college and university representatives. Start planning your future now and take the time to ask representatives what sets their school apart from the rest. Meet us at the Scottish Rite Center or come ride the bus with us. You must have a permission slip to attend. Additional permission slips are available in the Career Center –room 107. Seats are going fast – first come first served!

Have you checked YOUR center bulletin board lately? If not, you may be missing out! The boards will be updated monthly to make sure you know what’s going on at the Hive and beyond… college field trips, career exploration opportunities, parent resources, etc.
Tutoring After School ~ TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS | 2:30p – 4p
Didn’t get the material in class? Stay after school to get the help you need to be successful. There are two locations to serve you… The Learning Lab in Room 450 at the Center for Science and Engineering and T Cubed in Room 544 at the Center for Social Justice. Take advantage of this great resource and get help from college tutors as well as some of your teachers. It’s a new grading period, so let’s start off strong!
Circle of Friends
Don’t forget that Circle of Friends lunch meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, in the Science and Engineering Center. We will meet in the 447 classrooml Your school lunch will be waiting for you, so no need to wait in the lunch line! We will have a craft activity for you and your peer friends. New and interested members are welcome! Please come at the beginning of lunch to room 447 downstairs, and wear your t-shirt if you have one!
Wave Program
The Winter Aquatic Vocational Education (W.A.V.E.) Program is co-sponsored by the City of San Diego and the American Red Cross. The WAVE Program provides an opportunity for “at risk” youths from low-income and minority households to receive a scholarship and participate in the lifeguard training course. The WAVE Program also requires candidates to complete a minimum of 25 hours of volunteer work at City of San Diego pools and a minimum of 5 hours at the American Red Cross. Students can visit the Career Center to get an information brochure.

Club Rush Day
Club Rush Day has been postponed until November 6th. Come out and check out all the clubs that Lincoln has to offer. Get information and get involved. If you club has not signed up yet, please do so A.S.A.P.!
Employment Opportunity
The County of San Diego is offering high school students an employment opportunity as a Student Worker. The rate of pay = $11.67. Students interested should go to the Career Center (room107) for more information. FYI – one Lincoln High student has applied for a position and will be working for the Sheriff’s Dept.
Lincoln Hat Policy
Students please be aware that Lincoln High School has a NO HAT policy. Students caught wearing a hat by a staff member may be asked to give up the hat. If the student is unwilling to give up the hat, they are subject to discipline and possible suspension.

Over 100 PRIVATE/INDEPENDENT and PUBLIC colleges will be represented at this year’s Cal SOAP College Fair, in addition to specific workshops such as: “the secrets of selective colleges”, “the College Athlete”, and “California community colleges and the transfer process”. We will have two busses departing Lincoln High School to attend this event, and we want you and your parent/guardian to ride the bus with us! Come and find the college that best fits YOU! Save your spot on the bus by signing up in the Career Center by Friday, October 16 at 3pm. Questions? Contact Ms. Cruz.
MECHA Fundraiser
Every Wednesday MECHA will be selling TOSTILOCOS after school @ 3:00 p.m. In the main quad for the 9th grade center for SocialJustice. Tostilocos will cost $2.75.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Copies of the Better Business Bureau and Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarships are available in the Career Center (rm 107). Both scholarships are due in October. You must have a 3.0 G.P.A. to apply for the Coca-Cola Scholarship.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
All seniors must complete a minimum of 30 hours of community service. All 9th – 11th grade students are encouraged to participate in community service during the school year. Don’t wait until your senior year. See Mr Loessel, in the Career Center, if you have questions.
ACT & SAT Testing
All seniors are reminded to sign up for the next ACT and SAT tests especially if you plan to apply to a UC or CalState University. Fee waivers are availble through your Center’s Counselor. See Mr Loessel if you have questions.
American Red Cross Club at Lincoln
Come be a part of a great organization new to Lincoln. Besides CPR, the American Red Cross Club will help the Red Cross fulfill its humanitarian mission – to relieve human suffering by preventing, preparing for, and responding to emergencies. Your membership will help your community and even provide world wide support. Earn community service hours and add to your Senior Exhibition. They meet every Tuesday after school. Contact Mr. Monday in Public Safety – room 351 for more information or check them out at their booth on Club Rush Day.

Senior Class meetings are held Monday’s after-school in Room 469. Please join us in planning future senior events like our Winter Gram fundraiser, Pat and Oscars fundraiser and Prom.
