New Items:

Senior Packages

The last day to turn in your senior package money is Nov. 30th (it has been extended 10 days).  Senior package one contains ASB Card, Yearbook, Prom Ticket, Senior T-Shirt, Sweatshirt, and Gradnite Ticket for $239.  Package two includes all from package one, except the Grad Nite ticket for $169.  You may pay by cash or check in the ASB room during lunch.

College Application Deadline for UC and CSU – Nov. 30th!

If you need help with your college applications – come by room 303 today after school from 2:30 to 4:30. Wendy Craig, Associate Director of the Educational Opportunity Programs and Ethnic Affairs at San Diego State University will be there to assist.  Do not wait until Nov. 30th because the system may crash or be busy.

Homecoming Court

We are having meetings every Tuesday during lunch in room 146.  Bring your lunch and your service project ideas!

Friday, November 20   |   Lincoln High School Health Fair   |  All DAY until 3:30p

Students and parent/guardian(s)… Get ready for our annual Health Fair coming up this Friday.   Over 50 organizations will be represented on this day of resources for you and your family!  The Health Fair will take place in the small gym ALL DAY until 3:30pm.  Parent/guardian(s) please check in the 100 office for a visitor’s pass.

Saturday, November 21   |    Cal SOAP College Application & Scholarship Workshop   |   9am – 1pm @ LHS Library

SENIORS:  Don’t miss out on a FREE opportunity to finish up your College Applications this Saturday from 9a – 1pm in the Library.  Cal SOAP college peer advisors will be here to help you complete your college and scholarship applications.  JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES and FRESHMEN:  You are also invited to start applying for scholarships.  Come gain invaluable experience this Saturday.  Questions, come talk to our very own Lincoln college peer advisors for more information — Roseann and Ngozi — Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

Thursday, December 3   |   Cal SOAP Career Fair – 9th Grade Students Only   |   9am – 1pm  @ Scottish Rite Center

Calling all 9th Grade Students!  There is limited space to attend the Cal SOAP Career Fair on Thursday, December 3.  Please go to the Career Center to sign up.  Priority will be given to students who sign up by THIS Friday, November 20.

Mock Trial

Anyone interested in participating in Mock Trial Program for Lincoln, please attend the meeting in room 350 on Monday and Tuesday, during lunch.

Tuesday and Thursday Tutoring After School   |   Learning Lab in Room 450 and T Cubed in Room 544   |   2:30am – 4pm

ALL students are welcome to drop in at our two after school tutoring locations on Tuesday and Thursday.  College tutors and some of YOUR teachers are available to help you with your academics, or simply come by to get organized and prioritize what you need to do for the week to be successful in your classes.  Come by and check us out!

Lincoln Hat Policy

Students please be aware that Lincoln High School has a NO HAT policy.  Students caught wearing a hat by a staff member may be asked to give up the hat.  If the student is unwilling to give up the hat, they are subject to discipline and possible suspension.

MECHA Fundraiser

Every Wednesday MECHA will be selling TOSTILOCOS after school @ 3:00 p.m. In the main quad for the 9th grade center for SocialJustice.  Tostilocos will cost $2.75.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

All seniors must complete a minimum of 30 hours of community service. All 9th – 11th grade students are encouraged to participate in community service during the school year. Don’t wait until your senior year. See Mr Loessel, in the Career Center, if you have questions.

American Red Cross Club at Lincoln

Come be a part of a great organization new to Lincoln.  Besides CPR, the American Red Cross Club will help the Red Cross fulfill its humanitarian mission – to relieve human suffering by preventing, preparing for, and responding to emergencies. Your membership will help your community and even provide world wide support. Earn community service hours and add to your Senior Exhibition.  They meet every Tuesday after school.  Contact Mr. Monday in Public Safety – room 351 for more information or check them out at their booth on Club Rush Day.

Wave Program

The Winter Aquatic Vocational Education (W.A.V.E.) Program is co-sponsored by the City of San Diego and the American Red Cross. The WAVE Program provides an opportunity for “at risk” youths from low-income and minority households to receive a scholarship and participate in the lifeguard training course. The WAVE Program also requires candidates to complete a minimum of 25 hours of volunteer work at City of San Diego pools and a minimum of 5 hours at the American Red Cross.  Students can visit the Career Center to get an information brochure.

Writing for Literacy Essay Contest

Are you or know a 10th grade student interested in competing for a $500 top prize (other winners will also receive money) for writing a one thousand word essay?  The 2010 Student Writing for Literacy Essay Contest deadline is 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009.  See the library for details.
