Congratulations to the following students for having their science fair projects chosen to be displayed/entered in the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair in March in Balboa Park. These students have a chance to win big prizes along with scholarships for their hard work and dedication to the sciences. Enrique Garcia and Juan Rodriguez for their project on Ecological Building Design, Nicholas Prior for his project on Calculator and Chaos Theory, David Navarrette for his project on How Many Shuffles it Takes to Randomize a Deck of Cards. Please congratulate them and cheer them on in the competition!
Green and White Ball Ticket Sales
This Thursday is the last day to purchase tickets for the Green and White Ball. Ticket prices this week have been changed to $40 with an A.S.B. Card and $45 without. You must have a contract signed by your parent to purchase a ticket. The financial office is open during lunch and after school.
Free Concert Today at Lunch
NuConrad.com will be hosting a live concert with the band War Stories today in the center quad during lunch. They have been featured on MTV and VH1 and are currently ranked as one of the top bands on the Billboard Indie Charts. Help our school win $25,000 and a live performance by a major artist by logging onto NuConrad.com and voting for your favorite artist once everyday. Also, be sure to be logged in at 4:00 p.m. for a chance to win a new iphone or ipod.
Volunteer Opportunity – YMCA
Are you in need of volunteer hours? If so, you can help out your local YMCA. You must be 16 years of age and attend a volunteer orientation. It will be held on Thursday, March 18th at 2:30 in room 303. Please see Mr. Camacho in the A.S.B. room at lunch to sign up.
Haiti Fundraiser
The “Hope for Haiti” Fundraiser is over. Thank you to all clubs, organizations, staff and students who contributed to help the recovery effort for the people of Haiti. Lincoln High School raised over $900 and will be sending a check to the American Red Cross. Once again, thank you to all you Hornets for helping with this fundraiser!
Softball Tryouts
Softball tryouts will be held Saturday, February 20th, 2010, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Come prepared to play. Bring athletic clearance forms and you must have a 2.00 G.P.A. to participate. Please note tryouts will also be on Monday, February 22, 2010, from 3:00 to 4:30.
Study Abroad Informational Meeting
Interested in Studying Abroad and international travel? There’s a meeting for you and your parents Monday, March 1st at 6 p.m. about a fabulous opportunity to study abroad to Europe and China. Earn community service hours and college credit. The meeting will be held in room 670, refreshments will be provided. Don’t forget to bring your parents! This opportunity is open to all 9-12th grade students in all Centers. Questions contact Mrs. Frohoff in the Center for the Arts
COSMOS Application Workshops – 02/17, 03/03, 03/10
Come to the computer lab in the Library TOMORROW, Wednesday February 17 at 2:30 to get help or get started on your application to the COSMOS Program. Again, this is a 4-week enrichment program for students who are interested and passionate about math and the sciences. You also will be living in college dorms and meeting other high school students from all over San Diego. How will you spend your summer? Come check it out!

Please make sure to fill out your FAFSA before March 2nd to be eligible for the Cal Grant! Do not wait to the last minute – come to room 303 on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30 for help with your FAFSA and/or scholarships.
Heritage Day Parade
JROTC, Band and Step Team will participate in the 18th Annual San Diego Heritage Day Parade and Festival on February 27, 2010. The start of the parade will be at the corner of Imperial and Willie James Jones Ave and will end at Market Creek Plaza, where the festival will be held. The parade will start 10:00 a.m. and the festival will end at 4:00 p.m. Check-in for the parade is from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at the John F. Kennedy Park, located at 4801 Ocean View Blvd. Come out and support our Lincoln students!
Cal-SOAP Representatives have returned to Lincoln High
Two Cal-SOAP representatives, Ngozi Okeh and Aida Jaramillo, will be assisting Lincoln High students with college admissions and financial aid information. They will be on campus Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Career Center.
Lincoln’s Best Dance Crew
Calling all Tappers, Ball Room, Hip Hop and Bboy Dancers – Come to the ASB Room (146) to pick up a Lincoln’s Best Dance Crew Application – they are due on Feb. 20th! Lets see if you got what it takes to be crowned the dance champ for Lincoln and represent us in the finals for a chance to win $1,000.00.
Circle of Friends
Reminder, Circle of Friends meets every Wednesday in Room 447 in Science and Engineering. Your school lunch will be waiting. Interested members, come and make new friends, help include persons with disabilities on our campus, and earn community service hours. See you tomorrow!
