CAL GRANT GPA VERIFICATION FORM DEADLINE
Seniors must complete and turn into the registrar the GPA Verification by February 26th! Mrs. Tamayo is located in the back of the library and is there everyday from 7:00 to 3:30 p.m. She is closed at lunch. If she is not there when you go, please leave the forms with the front desk in the library.
Boys & Girls Basketball Playoff
Our boys and girls basketball teams have made the play-offs! Our boys will play Tuesday at Lincoln vs. Patrick Henry at 6:00 p.m. and our girls will play at Westview on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The varsity boys basketball team is the western champions going 12-0 in league. This is the first time in league history a team has gone 12-0! Go Hornets!
Fall Semester 2009 Honor Roll Celebration
Congratulations to all our Lincoln High School Honor Roll students who have achieved a 3.5 and above GPA for the Fall semester. We look forward to honoring your achievements this Thursday, February 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lincoln High School Theatre. See you there!
Congratulations Science Bowl Teams!
This past Saturday our Lincoln Science Bowl teams made Lincoln very proud! The took second, third, fifth, and sixth out of 14 teams from Pruess and La Jolla. Be sure to congratulate members of the team. Go Hornets!
COSMOS Application Workshops
We’re only 2 1/2 weeks away from the application deadline! Students who are interested in applying to the COSMOS program should come to the remaining workshops held in the Library after school at 2:30 on the following Wednesdays: February 24, March 3 and March 10. Come get help and feedback on your application.
Heritage Day Parade
JROTC, Band and Step Team will participate in the 18th Annual San Diego Heritage Day Parade and Festival on February 27, 2010. The start of the parade will be at the corner of Imperial and Willie James Jones Ave and will end at Market Creek Plaza, where the festival will be held. The parade will start 10:00 a.m. and the festival will end at 4:00 p.m. Check-in for the parade is from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at the John F. Kennedy Park, located at 4801 Ocean View Blvd. Come out and support our Lincoln students!
Lincoln’s Best Dance Crew
Calling all dancers! Come showcase your dancing skills at Lincoln High School Best Dances Crew Competition set for March 11th, and have a chance to win $200 and possibly $1000 at the finals – San Diego High Best Dance Crew, on May 8th. Come down to the ASB room during lunch and pick up your application – they deadline has been extended to this Friday – February 26th!
Senior Package
There may be an additional opportunity to purchase a senior package. You must sign up with Ms. Ramírez in room 469 in order to purchase a senior package. Packages will be sold if more than 20 people sign up to purchase. So far, we have 12 people interested.
AESA Meeting
Reminder: AESA (Asian Empowered Student Alliance) meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 24th in Room 568 at 2:45.
Morning Fundraiser
Stop by the Science and Engineering quad to buy a donut or hot chocolate before school. Donuts and hot chocolate is $1. Support the Class of 2010!
College and Financial Aid Resource Fair
The ‘KEEPING EDUCATION for YOUTH (K.E.Y.)’ Fair will be held this Thursday, from 4:30 – 6:30pm, at the South Metro Career Center (4389 Imperial Ave). This Fair is for all students. Mr. Loessel will be one of the featured participants providing information on Scholarships and financial aid. Flyers for this event are available in the Career Center.

Volunteer Opportunity – YMCA
Are you in need of volunteer hours? If so, you can help out your local YMCA. You must be 16 years of age and attend a volunteer orientation. It will be held on Thursday, March 18th at 2:30 in room 303. Please see Mr. Camacho in the A.S.B. room at lunch to sign up.
Circle of Friends
Reminder, Circle of Friends meets every Wednesday in Room 447 in Science and Engineering. Your school lunch will be waiting. Interested members, come and make new friends, help include persons with disabilities on our campus, and earn community service hours. See you tomorrow!
Science Shout Outs
Congratulations to the following students for having their science fair projects chosen to be displayed/entered in the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair in March in Balboa Park. These students have a chance to win big prizes along with scholarships for their hard work and dedication to the sciences. Enrique Garcia and Juan Rodriguez for their project on Ecological Building Design, Nicholas Prior for his project on Calculator and Chaos Theory, David Navarrette for his project on How Many Shuffles it Takes to Randomize a Deck of Cards. Please congratulate them and cheer them on in the competition!
Study Abroad Informational Meeting
Interested in Studying Abroad and international travel? There’s a meeting for you and your parents Monday, March 1st at 6 p.m. about a fabulous opportunity to study abroad to Europe and China. Earn community service hours and college credit. The meeting will be held in room 670, refreshments will be provided. Don’t forget to bring your parents!
