Boys Basketball Game

Our Boys Basketball Team defeated Hoover Friday Night for the CIF Division 2 Championship. We earned the #2 seed in the State CIF Tournament. We get a Bye on Tuesday night and will have a home game on Thursday, March 11 at 7 pm against the winner of Summit at San Pedro. Congratulations to the entire team and Coach Bryant!

Blood Drive

Do you want to save up to three lives? Applications are available in the A.S.B. room or Central Office. You must be at least 16 years old to donate. Our next blood drive will be on March 24th. Please come by the ASB room (146) during lunch for details.

Junior Class

Junior Class meeting cancelled this week. If you have a fundraiser you would like to lead, please see
Mrs. Hubbard in room 548 a.s.a.p.!

Fundraiser for AVID

AVID is sponsoring a run to support and raise funds for AVID and Leukemia. If you are a student who has suffered from Leukemia or you have a sibling who is suffering from Leukemia, please see Mrs. Hubbard or Mr. Ochoa in the Center for Social Justice.

Heritage Day Parade Results & More

Congratulations to all of our groups that participated in the Heritage Day Parade last week. Lincoln won four trophies! First Place Drill Team, First Place ROTC Color Guard, Second Place Band, and Third Place Step Team. Congratulations to Ashley Haynes and Lesley Gomez for earning places in the All- City Honor Band and Orchestra! They won their auditions and got to play in Copley Symphony Hall! Congratulations to the Jazz Band for winning a rating of “Excellent” at the California Music Educators Jazz Festival this past weekend sponsored by Jazz 88 Radio. Special congratulations to Tarifa El Henson and Steven Martinez for winning outstanding Solo awards! Our orchestra students got to play for the world-renowned conductor Jung Ho Pak on Saturday. He worked with our orchestra, as did several of members of the professional group Orchestra Nova. It was a fantastic experience!

Free CPR Training Offered by American Red Cross March 13th
Learn how to save a life!

What: 19th Annual CPR Saturday – Free Adult CPR certification for participants who successfully complete the training also featuring a Children’s Learning Area (ages 5 to 11).
When: Saturday, March 13, 2010. Sessions begin at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your desired session start time.
Where: Golden Hall at the San Diego Concourse, 202 C Street at B Street and 3rd Avenue.
There is no advance registration required for this event! Simply come to the class you intend to take and registration will take place then (arriving half an hour early is strongly recommended). Assets

The Youth Leadership Team invites all students to participate in the after school program. ASSETS EMPOWER offers classes in all four centers, Monday through Friday from 2:30-5:00pm, and every other Saturday during Saturday Academy from 8am-12pm. To sign up for one of the after school classes look out for the ASSETS calendar, which can be found posted in classrooms, on the bulletin boards at each center, as well as online at www.lincolnhighsd.net. St. Patrick’s Day Gram Sale

The Sophomore Class of 2012 is hosting the St. Patrick’s Day gram sale. Students will be coming around toward the end of advisory class this Thursday to solicit sales. The grams are $2.00 However, if one is not purchased for you, don’t despair – purchase your own gram and your get special treat during lunch on Wednesday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day. Also, we need more sophomore workers to help us put on the gram sale – see Mrs. Cooper this Wednesday during lunch.

AESA

AESA meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, March 10th at 2:45 afterschool in room 568.

Senior Info. – Cap & Gowns

Jostens will be on campus again on Tuesday, March 9th during lunch to take more Cap and Gown orders. The Cap and Gown unit itself costs $30. If students aren’t able to pay the entire amount, they are able to put down a deposit and make payments on their order. Orders placed after March 17th will have a $10 fee added. If students need a new order form and packet, there are extras available in the ASB office.

Hurley Walk the Walk Applications Are Out!

Are you interested in being a model for the National Walk the Walk Fashion Show this August? If so, applications are available now in the A.S.B. room and central office. They are due by March 22nd to Mr. Camacho in the A.S.B. room – please make sure to pick one up early to give to your counselor. Good luck!

Prom Dress Assistance

Are you financially stressed about prom? Are your parents saying, “Sorry…we can’t afford that dress and earrings.” Well worry no more! If expenses for prom are just too hard to manage, call to make your appointment with The Princess Project. The Princess Project has FREE, that’s right, Free beautiful dresses and accessories for San Diego area girls who would otherwise miss out on prom due to expenses. Prom Dress giveaways are: March 19, 20, and 27. Appointments are required. Location will be provided once an appointment is made. Must have valid high school ID. Library Display

Visit the library and check out the “March Birthdays” display. It includes the birthdays of all Lincoln students born in March (180) as well as biographies of famous people born in March. Library hours are 7am until lunch and after lunch until 4pm everyday!

Career Workshop

Cal-SOAP’s “So You Want To Be An Educator” career workshop on Saturday, March 20 at National University will now be open to ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, grades 9-12. We are still accepting registration for 100 spots and very much NEED your support in recruitment. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided. See Mr. Loessel in the career center to sign up.

Morning Fundraiser

Stop by the Science and Engineering quad this Thursday and Friday to buy a donut or hot chocolate before school. Donuts and hot chocolate is $1. Support the Class of 2010!

M.E.Ch.A Food Drive

Will be hosting their annual Solidarity Food Drive on Sunday, March 14 from 6:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Boxes will be placed in the office for every center. If you would like to help out and bring something such as canned foods, men’s clothes and other male utilities, please place them in the boxes provided. For any more information please talk to any of the M.E.Ch.A representatives or contact Mr. Ochoa or Mr. Gómez in the Center of Social Justice.

COSMOS Application Workshops

We’re only 1 1/2 weeks away from the application deadline! Students who are interested in applying to the COSMOS program should come to the remaining workshops held in the Library after school at 2:30 on the Wednesday, March 10. Come get help and feedback on your application.

Senior Package

There may be an additional opportunity to purchase a senior package. You must sign up with Ms. Ramírez in room 469 in order to purchase a senior package. Packages will be sold if more than 20 people sign up to purchase. So far, we have 12 people interested.

Volunteer Opportunity – YMCA

Are you in need of volunteer hours? If so, you can help out your local YMCA. You must be 16 years of age and attend a volunteer orientation. It will be held on Thursday, March 18th at 2:30 in room 303. Please see Mr. Camacho in the A.S.B. room at lunch to sign up.

Circle of Friends

Reminder, Circle of Friends meets every Wednesday in Room 447 in Science and Engineering. Your school lunch will be waiting. Interested members, come and make new friends, help include persons with disabilities on our campus, and earn community service hours. See you tomorrow!
