A.S.B. Applications Are Available!

Come by the A.S.B. room during lunch to pick up an application for next year’s A.S.B.  They are due on May 13th!  Get involved at Lincoln and help make a difference!

Multi Cultural Week & Food Fair This Friday

Multi-Cultural Week is this week, with great performances during lunch in the center quad each day.  The annual food fair is this Friday during lunch.  Tickets can be purchased on Thursday & Friday at the finance office, and only Friday at the theatre ticket booth.  Most tables will take tickets (except Chicken Shack and Jamba Juice – Cash only).

Capoeria Event

Lincoln Capoeira will be hosting an international event this weekend.
If you have never experienced such an event, you must come and check it out for yourself. Saturday April 17th in the small gym-Noon Capoeira Club meets Tuesday/Wednesday After school in Room 530.

Healthy Kids Day

This Saturday, April 17th, Jackie Robinson YMCA is hosting Healthy Kids Day from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  There are free kids games, arts, activities, family aerobic classes, and more.  It is also a time to sign up for summer camps.

AP ENGLISH LITERATURE INTEREST MEETING

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF THE CLASS OF 2011?  THEN CONSIDER TAKING AP ENGLISH LITERATURE FOR COLLEGE CREDIT YOUR SENIOR YEAR. THERE IS AN INTEREST MEETING FOR PROSPECTIVE AP ENGLISH LITERATURE STUDENTS IN ROOM 653 OF THE ARTS BUILDING DURING LUNCH ON THURSDAY, APRIL 15. MEET MR. MORGAN, TALK TO CURRENT AP LITERATURE STUDENTS, AND FIND OUT ABOUT THE SUMMER READING REQUIREMENT

ThinkGREEN! 2010 @ UCSD

ThinkGREEN! is a FREE event focused on renewable energy and sustainability themed outreach designed to help students explore the world of environmental science and engineering.  High school students (and parents!) are invited to participate in design competitions and tour a variety of research laboratories at UC San Diego.  Students will learn about the principles of engineering and its application to sustainability/renewable energy.  The whole day event takes place on Saturday, April 17 at UCSD from 9am – 3pm.  Lunch is provided! If you’re interested in areas of engineering, science and the environment, sign up in the Lincoln Career Center to receive your permission slip.

Doc 4 A Day @ UCSD School of Medicine

The School of Medicine will host Lincoln High School students participating in the Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Curriculum for one day learning to be doctors. Incorporating the Core Values of César E. Chávez students will explore medicine and health sciences through various activities including neurology, cardiology, gastrointestinal (GI), musculoskeletal, and pharmacy workshops and presentations. Participating students will have an opportunity to interact with medical students from under represented backgrounds and gain insight into their pathway to medicine.  This is also a day long event at UCSD on Saturday, April 17 from 9am -4pm.  Lunch will be provided.  Sign up in the Lincoln Career Center to receive your permission slip.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES

Thinking about what YOU will do this summer?  There are several summer opportunities taking place at local colleges/universities that may fit your interest!  The Science Leadership Institute, the Summer Leadership Institute, and the PSAT Scholars Program are a few examples.  These opportunities are either residential or daily bus transportation will be provided during the program… and there is NO COST.  You must apply if you’re interested!  For more information, stop by the Career Center during LUNCH on Wednesdays or Thursdays, or attend the SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES APPLICATION WORKSHOPS after school from 2:30p – 3:30p on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Library Computer Lab beginning this week and continuing throughout the month of April.  Contact Ms. Cruz if you have questions.

Senior Package

Order forms will be delivered to seniors who signed up this week.  If you did not get one, see Ms. Ramirez a.s.a.p.  They are due no later to Ms. Renuad (financial office) no later than April 16th.

Senior Info. – Cap & Gowns

Seniors – you must now mail your order form to Josten’s for your Cap and Gown – the unit itself costs $30. The address is on the top right hand side of the packet envelope.  Orders placed after March 17th, will have a $10 late fee added.  If students need a new order form and packet, there are extras available in the ASB office.  Mail yours today!

Morning Fundraiser

Stop by the Science and Engineering quad this Thursday and Friday to buy a donut or hot chocolate before school. Donuts and hot chocolate is $1. Support the Class of 2010!

Circle of Friends

Reminder, Circle of Friends meets every Wednesday in Room 447 in Science and Engineering. Your school lunch will be waiting. Interested members, come and make new friends, help include persons with disabilities on our campus, and earn community service hours. See you tomorrow!
