Boys Basketball Banquet

On Sunday, May 23, 2010 Lincoln High and the community will honor their basketball program, home of the 2010 Div II State Champions. The banquet will take place at Jacobs Center at Market Creek Plaza, 404 Euclid Avenue, starting at 3:00pm. All are invited and encouraged to attend. Tickets can be purchased ($25 Adults and $15 students) in the finance office during lunch and after school.

Prom Tickets- Tickets are for sale at lunch and after-school in the Financial Office. The last day to buy a ticket for Prom is Thursday after-school. Senior Package holders must also turn in a contract in order to attend Prom. Please pick up a contract in your center Office, ASB Room or Ms. Ramírez’s room and turn it in to the Financial Office. It the student’s responsibility to turn in a completed contract in order to be admitted into Prom. I’ve attached a list of students who have purchased the Senior Package and have not turned in a Prom Contract, please look for your students on this list!

Senior Exhibition is scheduled for Wednesday, May 26 from 12:pm to 3:30pm. That will be a minimum day for the rest of Lincoln High with the afternoon devoted to Senior Exhibition.

Seniors must pass Senior Exhibition to be eligible to graduate. They must present a Portfolio that is evaluated for appropriate content and completeness and give a 5 -7 minute oral presentation.

This can be a stress filled yet exhilirating time for Lincoln High seniors as they move one-step closer to graduation on June 18th.

Prom Tickets- Tickets are for sale at lunch and after-school in the Financial Office. Prices are $65 with an ASB card and $70 without an ASB card. Students who have debt to the library or the athletic department must clear their debt before they may purchase a ticket.

Senior Package Holders – You must also turn in a contract in order to attend Prom. Please pick up a contract in your center Office, ASB Room or Ms. Ramírez’s room and turn it in to the Financial Office. It is your responsibility to turn in a completed contract in order to be admitted into Prom.

Prom King and Queen Nominations- Nominations for Prom King and Queen candidates will be done on Thursday, May 13th. Any student that has purchased a prom ticket can run. The 4 ladies and 4 gentlemen who receive the most nominations on Thursday will be chosen to run for Prom King or Queen (Donnell Davis will be acknowledged on that night, so he doesn’t need to be nominated). Final votes will be done at Prom on May 22nd.

The second annual 2010 Lincoln High School Fine Art Show and Sale will be held this Thursday and Friday – 2 hours after school and from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre – Students are $2 and $5 (Donations)! There will be a live student DJ, student videos, lots of ceramic pieces for sale and show, and plenty of drawings and creative artworks by our talented LHS students. Congrats to Johanna Mejia

Ruben Galvan, from the CW Channel 6 News, recognized our very own Johanna Mejia as Ruben’s Star Student of the Month. Ruben surprised Johanna on live TV while she was in her AP Calculus class and presented her with a trophy and a few other prizes. A special thanks goes out to Johanna’s teacher’s Mr. Bacon, Mr. Souvannarath, Mr. Pascua, Ms. Frankenberg, Mr. Morgan, and Mr. Rubin for coming to school extra early to show support for our amazing student. Our cheerleaders also did an amazing job in helping make the event a special one for Johanna. Congrats to the following two classes for winning the Pasta for Pennies Fundriaser!  Ms. Greco-Rambo (Public Safety) with $63.52 & Mr. Navarro (Science & Engineering) with $77.41.  Arts and Social Justice did not qualify because there was a certain min. requirement in order to have the Olive Garden Lunch. A.S.B. members will be contacting the teachers soon to organize the date of the lunch.  Lincoln raised a total of $474.95 for Leukemia and Lyphoma Society!  Way to go Hornets!

Yearbook Applications are available starting tomorrow!  You can pick one up in the A.S.B room during lunch, the central office, and online at our school’s website and www.voicesoflincoln.com  They are due May 18th!

Senior Fundraiser at Cici’s Pizza this Thursday (April 22nd) from 6-9 p.m.! 10% of the proceeds that night will go back to the Class of 2010!  You do not need a flyer – just show up and bring your friends and family.

Congrats to Johanna Mejia

Ruben Galvan, from the CW Channel 6 News, recognized our very own Johanna Mejia as Ruben’s Star Student of the Month. Ruben surprised Johanna on live TV while she was in her AP Calculus class and presented her with a trophy and a few other prizes.  A special thanks goes out to Johanna’s teacher’s Mr. Bacon, Mr.  Souvannarath, Mr. Pascua, Ms. Frankenberg, Mr. Morgan, and Mr. Rubin for coming to school extra early to show support for our amazing student.  Our cheerleaders also did an amazing job in helping make the event a special one for Johanna.  Here is a link to our school website where I posted a link to the videos from the broadcast:http://lincolnhighsd.net/hornets/2010/04/15/harvard-bound-lincoln-senior-honored/

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES

Thinking about what YOU will do this summer?  There are several summer opportunities taking place at local colleges/universities that may fit your interest!  The Science Leadership Institute, the Summer Leadership Institute, and the PSAT Scholars Program are a few examples.  These opportunities are either residential or daily bus transportation will be provided during the program… and there is NO COST.  You must apply if you’re interested!  For more information, stop by the Career Center during LUNCH on Wednesdays or Thursdays, or attend the SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES APPLICATION WORKSHOPS after school from 2:30p – 3:30p on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Library Computer Lab beginning this week and continuing throughout the month of April.  Contact Ms. Cruz if you have questions.

Senior Info. – Cap & Gowns

Seniors – you must now mail your order form to Josten’s for your Cap and Gown – the unit itself costs $30. The address is on the top right hand side of the packet envelope.  Orders placed after March 17th, will have a $12 late fee added.  If students need a new order form and packet, there are extras available in the ASB office.  Mail yours today!

Circle of Friends

Reminder, Circle of Friends meets every Wednesday in Room 447 in Science and Engineering. Your school lunch will be waiting. Interested members, come and make new friends, help include persons with disabilities on our campus, and earn community service hours. See you tomorrow!
