March 12 SAT Test

THIS Saturday, March 12, Lincoln High School will host the SAT test. Students taking the test MUST report to the Center for Social Justice (500 Building located at the corner of Willie James Jones Ave. and Franklin Ave.) at 7:30 am. The school gate along Willie James Jones will open at 7:00 am. Students may also be dropped off in the underground parking lot along Franklin Avenue. Students can then go up the staircase to the 500 building.

Remember to bring the following: your SAT admission ticket, two no. 2 pencils and a soft eraser, a current and valid photo identification, and an acceptable calculator. 36th Annual High School Conference

You are cordially invited to the 36th Annual High School Conference at San Diego State University. Each year SDSU’s Afrikan Student Union (A.S.U) invites high school students from all over Southern California to an all-day event geared toward encouraging YOU! to attend and graduate college. Our organization is dedicated to Academic Excellence, Community Service and Outreach, Cultural Enrichment & Awareness, and Unity. We understand the impact partnerships and collaboration play in educating our future leaders, and we are prepared to provide guidance and direction to foster such relationships.

The theme for this year’s high school conference is “Lean On Me: Our Future is a Collective Responsibility”. This one-day conference will feature workshops on financial aid, academic preparation for higher education, career planning and college life. Live entertainment and lunch will also be provided for free! We would also like to invite you to be a part of our Student Talent Show. We welcome you to display any talent you wish, whether it is poetry, dancing, singing, etc. More information about the talent show will be provided in the Talent Information Form enclosed. We invite you to San Diego State University in hopes of inspiring a new generation of scholars. The Afrikan Student Union believes that education is a right for all and not a privilege meant for few.

GEAR UP for College Workshops

On the same day, at the same time, and in the same location you will always find a GEAR UP Workshop that covers a college related topic that all students should learn more about. Past topics include: ”Creating your college profile”, “How to choose the right college for you”, “Transcript Review”, and “Writing your Personal Statement”.

FREE SAT Preparation Workshop for Seniors

Last Chance SAT Prep for Seniors!

To qualify for admission to a four-year college or university as a freshman, students must take an SAT and/or ACT. For most universities, November or December is a student’s last chance to take the test. If you plan to take the November 6 or December 4 SAT, Cal SOAP is offering a “last chance” SAT preparation workshop.

Target audience: Students in Class of 2011 (Seniors). Parents are welcome, but not required to attend.

Date: Saturday, October 30

Location: Mark Twain High (main campus) – Auditorium; 6402 Linda Vista Road, San Diego, CA 92111

Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Once a month, our GEAR UP Team – Mr. Castro and Ms. Cruz – hosts a meeting to address topics directly related to the college preparation process. Students and parent(s)/guardian(s) are invited to attend these family meeting to learn more about specific college-related topics.

Cal SOAP College Fair 2010
