Spring Open House is this Thursday, April 19th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please join us to see the exciting work that your students have been working on this school year. We will begin in the theatre and then the center quad to see all the exciting things going on at Lincoln.

ASSETS is hosting an After School Rush Challenge on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:45 in the Black Box Theatre. Come to the launch party and find more about the challenge and after school programs available. The first 300 students will get a free ice cream sandwich.

If you have never been to an after school activity, we will show you what’s available or help you create a program (possibly this year, summer, or next school year).

If you are already participating, come find out about the exciting prizes for attending!

Do you want to help your class raise thousands of dollars and make a difference in the next election? The Registrar of Voters are looking for Student Poll Workers for the June 5 Presidential Primary Election. To be eligible, you must:

Be a high school junior and 16 years of age by Election Day
Be a United States Citizen
Have a grade point average of 2.5
Have a signed permission slip by your parent

Please see Mr. Blas in room 557 (SJ) or room 505 (6th period) or Mr. Camacho (ASB Room 146 during lunch) for a permission slip. They are due by Wed., March 21! The sooner, the better chance you have being selected. Some schools have raised over $10,000 participating. Lincoln made around $2,000 in the 2008 election. Go Hornets!

Lincoln High School Basketball – Southern Championship Game – Saturday, March 17

Please come and support our Boy’s Varsity Basketball team this Saturday for the Regional Finals against La Costa Canyon in Ontario. Lincoln has a spirit bus (yellow) that is free – you just need a permission slip and $10 (you will get the $10 back when you get on the bus). The first 25 people that turn in a permission slip and deposit – get a free t-shirt.

Mr. Miner (from R&M Sporting Good) has ordered a charter bus (Cost is $20 for ride only) and you must call him at 619-264-0700 or 962-0993.

Ticket prices are $10 for students with an I.D., $18 for adults, and $10 for Seniors over 65. Both buses will depart behind Lincoln on Franklin (behind the parking garage/tennis courts). You must show up at 12:30 p.m.

Our CAHSEE tests are Tuesday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 14. All students must attend and be prepared for this important day. Both days are minimum days.

Students vs. Industry Science Bowl Challenge

The Lincoln High School Science Bowl team is gearing up for it’s regional competition sponsored by The National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE). In our efforts to think of creative ways to prepare for this competition we came up with the Students vs. Industry Science Bowl Challenge. This will be a unique experience that will bring together teams made up of professionals from Industry and parents who will compete against Lincoln High School Students. Lincoln Teachers will also form a team. This event will be held on February 7, 2012 in the Lincoln Library from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Multi-Cultural Week at Lincoln – Food Fair is this Friday!

Please come out to the center quad this week for exciting performances and music. Today is Latin Day, we will have professional dancers on stage and giving lessons. Tomorrow is African Day. We have a special guest, Torrian, who will be singing some of his own songs. He was featured on 106 and Park last week on BET. Wednesday is Pacific Islander Day, and we will have our returning dancers that have been with us since we re-opened. Grab your lunch and come out and enjoy the show each day! Don’t forget that Friday is our Famous Food Fair!
